Papers of the Bagby family 1797-1921.

Correspondence, legal papers, clippings, and other papers of the King and Queen Co. (Va.) family. Letters (1862-64) from Major John Robert Babgy, 34th Va. Regiment, to his wife, Elizabeth Pollard Fleet Babgy, describing action at Williamsburg, Va., in 1864; some aspects of the siege of Charleston, S.C., in 1863; and Baptist activities in the Confederate Army. Also refers to Generals P.G.T. Beauregard, William Booth Taliaferro, and Henry A. Wise; includes descriptions of life at Allegheny and Coyner Springs in 1862. Other letters describe College Hill, Md., in 1860; Miller School, Albemarle Co., Va., in 1904, mentioning pupils and teachers; life in Hulette, Wyo., 1900; and municipal election in Newport News, Va., 1898. Among the family legal papers is Major Bagby's parole as a prisoner of war; a cliping gives the roster of G Company, 26th Va. Infantry. Among the families mentioned are Braxton, Carlton, Courtney, Diggs, Eubank, Gresham, Latané, Redd, and Ryland.
